Monkey Business

Monkey Business

Monkey Business                      $110 including shipping.  6″ x 6″ Framed

Did you ever want to create a little monkey business, play tricks- not like the 3 Stooges, but stir up a little trouble. We have had a few great April Fool’s tricks in the past 2 years. Two years ago we put up signs that said “Fresh Eggs” and left several dozen eggs in a cooler with a cigar box in front of our friends. Last year we placed a number of pink construction flags in the yard of a friend and made some construction markings. Our friends had the night before diverted a neighbors water-spout and worried that they neighbors had called the town. Haven’t thought up next years April Fools.

Boar Me

Boar Me

I have a lot of paintings to complete before the end of February-5  are inked in and waiting for color. Thank you Gary Heise for recommending high carbon ink. I was having so much trouble with my new Higgins waterproof ink that I had boiled off a third of it and tried to make do, but it doesn’t compare to Gary’s recommendations. I am back on track thanks to him.

Gary uses Chinese ink and watercolor to create beautiful idyllic Asian paintings. Check out his Facebook page under GaryHeisePainting.

We are going to New York this week to see my husband’s cousin who is here from Stockholm. Our daughter and son-in-law happen to be in Stockholm now on their way to Copenhagen. I am thinking they may have crossed in the airport.

With luck I will be on track when we return and use the end of the week to paint as much as I can.

Cat Scratching

cat scratching ©

Can you tell that there are 2 cats scratching creatures. A twist on the usual cat getting scratched by their owner. Our cats love petting. In fact Arthur is now wearing a pheromone collar to remind him of his mom. Amazing all the things a vet might recommend. It is supposed to help Arthur feel more secure. Time will tell.

I am gallery sitting at the Art Stable Gallery Westport today. Stop in and see new work by several of the ASG artists. I have added several new paintings and will be working on a new one while I am there.

This painting is 7″ by 5″ Ink and Watercolor on Aqua Board. It is varnished and framed in a shadow box frame.

Fat Cats!

Fat Cats!

Fat cats

The title happily described this painting. I truly love cats. These guys are conversing about things cats talk about, while one sits on a mint oreo cookie!

Here’s Looking at You! and Gicleé Give Away

Heres looking at you © 2013

This was quite the challenge to work out as I wanted to stay with purples, oranges and browns.

Was able to put a nice wash of gold on the background.

Which creature would you like to be ? Any reasons why?

Please consider signing up for my blog and I will randomly choose a winner of a gicleé of one of my works matted to 8 1/2 by 11.

Learned today that I can significantly lighten Higgins waterproof permanent drawing ink from aqua board if I use soap and hot water.

I am interested to see how the painting will look with much lighter outlines.

Would love to have you follow my painting journey and be sure to let me know which creature  you would like to be.

This is a 8″ by 10″ Ink and watercolor on aqua board, varnished and framed in a shadow box frame.

Greetings and Giclee give away!

Greetings

I was working on adding depth to my painting by adding landscape in a different way than I normally do. I think these two cool cats are just getting to know one another. I hope they strike up a lovely friendship as I have with so many artists in this area. It has been wonderful to connect with other painters and photographers and sculptors. My life is fuller getting to know so many wonderful and creative people whether through blogging or through meeting them as I get to know more artists in the area.

This is an 8″ by 10″ Ink and Watercolor that is painted on aqua board. This painting is not yet varnished as I am visiting my sister in Asheville, North Carolina….oh and yes we have snow today. Something I hoped to get away from. But the mountains are beautiful and the art is great to see. Asheville has a really thriving artist community. I love it!

This painting is for sale for $600.00 and is framed in a maple shadow box.

And  remember if you haven’t signed up for my blog I am giving away a print to one of the last 20 people who sign up. Only 4 more  people to go so please consider signing up for may blog.

hanging with the cool cats copyEMBOSSED

These cats are happy to hang out in this jungle with giant mushrooms and wild flowers. There’s a cool cat leaning against the tree. Again influenced by Henri Rousseau’s jungles.

This is a 5″ by 7″ ink and watercolor on aqua board and is framed in an oak and black shadow box frame.
