About

YOU DON”T SAY! can be seen at Ropewalk Gallery  in Mattapoisett, MA in an ongoing exhibition of my work.

Susan Medyn has been called a primitive artist and a visionary artist.

She is represented by Ropewalk Gallery, The Artful Heart, The Art Stable Gallery, and Gallery 55.

Susan Medyn has been making fantastical primitive watercolors for over 35 years. She has exhibited throughout the northeast and currently resides between Arlington, MA and Tiverton, RI.

You can see more of her work at:     http://www.southcoastartists.org/artists.html

DAFFODIL DAZE, 9″ x 12″, 2007, Ink and Watercolor, $500

“Medyn is gifted with a color sense as savory as fresh fruit and an imagination capable of setting genetics soundly on its ear. She gives life to an astonishing wonderland of beasties, plants and totemic trees, part vegetable, part animal and part apartment house for a diminutive universe of creatures. At times her work superficially recalls such diverse artists as Paul Klee and Dr. Seuss. Yet her work is decidedly her own; it has remarkable ability to appeal to virtually every level of sophistication.” – Noel Suter, Metroland

CHEERY DEERY, Ink and Watercolor, 2007, 9″x12″, $500

“The frozen frolics of Gumby/Rousseau inspired Gardens of Eden, where the noble beasties cavort in perfect bliss amidst their idealized fantasy landscapes, set the premise for a light hearted, airy exploration of Medyn’s work.” – John Tarlton, Times Union

DO SAY I DO, Ink and Watercolor, 10″ x 14″, $600

Her paintings tell stories about  life set in landscapes made up of  fantastical creatures and fauna. People are incidental to the work. Over the years her work has changed  from a more totemic nature to one page stories. Her work has a wonderful whimsical quality to it.

ANOTHER CREATURE FEATURE!, 9″X12″, Ink and Watercolor Painting, $500

Watercolors by Susan are enjoyed by people of all ages. Susan is constantly working on new pieces through the daily painters movement and she is currently showing at Gallery 55 in Natick, MA and Jessica Hagen Fine Art and Design in Newport, MA. She will also have some works at the Attleboro Arts Museum from December through February 2010.

GIL’S MILL, 9″X12″, Ink and Watercolor Painting, 2009, $400

Susan Medyn participates in  South Coast Artists Open Studios every July and August in her studio in Tiverton, RI. Although a visionary artist people are delighted by the naive  and whimsical quality of her work. She accepts commissions and works with her clients to place their personalities into various creatures in her work.
