Cat Scratching

Can you tell that there are 2 cats scratching creatures. A twist on the usual cat getting scratched by their owner. Our cats love petting. In fact Arthur is now wearing a pheromone collar to remind him of his mom. Amazing all the things a vet might recommend. It is supposed to help Arthur feel more secure. Time will tell.

I am gallery sitting at the Art Stable Gallery Westport today. Stop in and see new work by several of the ASG artists. I have added several new paintings and will be working on a new one while I am there.

This painting is 7″ by 5″ Ink and Watercolor on Aqua Board. It is varnished and framed in a shadow box frame.

HANGING WITH THE COOL CATS, Day 26 of 30 paintings in 30 days.

These cats are happy to hang out in this jungle with giant mushrooms and wild flowers. There’s a cool cat leaning against the tree. Again influenced by Henri Rousseau’s jungles.

This is a 5″ by 7″ ink and watercolor on aqua board and is framed in an oak and black shadow box frame.

BEARING STRAIT

Doing a quick post of a non zentangle, but an inked in drawing ready for painting. This painting has sold.

I have so much I am working on I am trying to focus on getting some larger works together for a show.

POPPIES, 30 PAINTINGS IN 30 DAYS

I really enjoyed painting today. The sun was so bright that the nearby water was so reflective that it was hard not to gaze at the sea. The poppy is the symbol for Morpheus the Greek god of dreams.

This is a 5″ by 7″ Ink and Watercolor on aqua board for day 5 of Leslie Saeta’s 30 day painting challenge.

This painting is going to the home of a wonderful artist Susan Klabak as a trade for one of her wonderful paintings.

The World Goes Round and Round, 6″ by 6″ Watercolor on Aqua Board

2013 brings a painting challenge that I am participating in.

It is Leslie Saeta’s 30 days of painting challenge for the month of January. If you go to her blog you can take a look at all the artists who are participating. Their new work will be posted daily.

I have started off with this this slice of my world but as I am taking a painting class this month, I will not be sticking with a theme. Rather I will be painting what I know and then what I am practicing. Taking on this challenge feels right for the New Year.

Flower Power with a little help from my friends.

Flower Power

I have been reworking this painting with some advice from Don Cadoret, Kathrine Lovell, and David Formanek and here it is! I found a lovely wooden shadow box to frame it in and it really makes this work pop out. I am busily trying to finish several Henri Rousseau influenced paintings for The Art Stable Gallery Westport’s Holiday Open House on Sunday November 18th from 2-5PM.

All 8 artists will be present with lots of new work so this will be a great afternoon to stop on by.

This is a 6″ by 6″ Ink and Watercolor on Aqua Board and is for sale for $200.00 framed in a shadow box.

Kind of knocks my socks off.

Need your help with cranky bird phrases!!!!

OK, so I had some friends over and had Carla Sohnheim’s 2 great books on the table. I showed everyone how to start a cranky birds. They cooperated, possibly thanks to good cheer, drinks, a beautiful day and lots of art supplies on the table. I want to forward them to Dar Hosta, http://darhosta.wordpress.com/cranky-birds/ but I need some help with sayings. Storyteller artist Don Cadoret turned me on to his friend Dar’s blog and it is so cool. Don’s work is really quite fabulous and he has an opening this Thursday of his new works in Bristol, RI.
