Oh my, so much to talk about, so much going on. Just like in high school. Even my creatures can’t keep from gossiping. The red horned guy is asking if the elephant is going out with the Slouch, but his friend doesn’t know. I can tell you though, all the little cats and snakes know the answer. What do you think?
And, goings on….
I am again participating in South Coast Artists Open Studios this Saturday and Sunday July 21st and 22nd from 11:00AM until 5:00PM .

This is a 6″ by 6″ ink and watercolor on aqua board. The man in the middle is filling his glass but the spotted pink creature is longing for a kiss. This work is for sale for $65 plus $5 shipping. Paypal button is above painting.
Working on this new style where I will be painting the entire page.

PARTRIDGE IN THERAPY!
This gilded partridge was inspired by a magazine cover. My partridge looks as though he might have a hard time flying. I think this 8″ by 8″ Ink and Watercolor on Aqua board is a cool bird. Paypal link above watercolor painting.
Bare Bear was inspired by a bronze bear on the grounds of the magnificent Grove Park Inn http://www.groveparkinn.com/in Asheville, North Carolina. Bare Bear is also on aqua board. He is headed for a new home. I am continuing to make whimsical watercolors on aqua board as well as watercolor paper. Will soon be posting my latest work which is a series of Holiday and Solstice Cards.
On a very wonderful note, yesterday I received an email from friends who were boating on the Sakonnet River and had 2 dolphins join them for their cocktail hour. I feel so fortunate to spend so much time in such a beautiful area. I will also be at the Art Stable Gallery http://www.artstablegallery.com/ today from noon until 4:00PM. Please come by and visit. I always love to see everyone.
Here is a small ink and watercolor called Marge Simpson. She is 4″ by 4″ and on aqua board. I thought I would have some fun with a good hair do. Marge is $75.00 inclusive of shipping.
Here is another little 4″ by 4″ ink and watercolor on aqua board. I love this medium as I can watercolor then varnish the panel. Pretty In Pink is also for sale for 75.00 inclusive of shipping. If you are interested please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
And I wanted to add a sample of one of my new friends jewelry, Donna St Amant. This is a beautiful necklace made of Sterling Silver with a Blister Pearl on a string of Coin Pearls. Her work can also be seen on this weekend’s open studio tours that I am busily getting ready for. http://www.southcoastartists.org/openStudio.html

I was looking though one of my books and noticed a black and white 18th century lithograph of 2 chicks with their mom. I decided that I would like to make a painting of 2 little ones with their big fluffy mom Medyn style. The colors really pop in this painting.
I find it touching how all animals protect their babies. Having had 2 babes of my own I know how that protective instinct kicks in the second your child is born. Then it is on to a life time of balancing protecting and letting go.
This painting is an ink and watercolor on 2 inch deep aqua board and is 8″ by 8″. It is ready to hang and is for sale for $250 plus $15.00 shipping. If interested please contact me at email@example.com
Open studio tours are coming up on August 18th and 19th and make for a really lovely day trip. There are so many wonderful artists on this upcoming tour. Hope you get a chance to come on down.
My friend Kathrine Lovell lent me a book on various chickens and I liked the pose of this one. I love the look on his face. He seems to be saying “Don’t mess with me”. I have the feeling I have raised a chicken like this before. He wouldn’t go in his house, he strutted across the road in Arlington, MA, he slept on the top of a chair on our porch and he led the rest of the birds down the road to meet Alex as he got off the school bus every day.
Chickens though aren’t destined for long lives and one day a mama fox snatched him away.
This guy is painted on 2″ deep cradled aqua board and is 6″ by 6″ and for sale for $150 plus $10.00 shipping. If you are interested please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I am busy making these chicks for upcoming South Coast Artist Open Studios August 18th and 19th. It is a great weekend to come on down and tour the many artists studios in this lovely coastal area. www.southcoastartists.org for more information.
I had the good fortune to be able to pick up some Fabriano watercolor paper and love how it holds the color. My friend Kitty Lovell and I decided that this lovely fish enjoys shopping at thrift stores where she happened to pick up this fabulous hat.
Take a look at Kitty’s website. She does incredible work.http://www.klovell.com/
Flugalfish is 12″ by 13″ and is framed to 18″ by 19″ in a lovely maple frame.
She is for sale for $550 and literally glows. I have a lot more Fabriano paper so I am sizing it so I can make more paintings for August open studios.
Shall We Dine?, Ink and Watercolor, 9″ by 12″, Private Collection
Think how nice it would be to eat al fresco on a lovely June day enjoying the company of friends and family. I love to celebrate the wonderful June birthdays in our family, my spouse, David, and our son, Alex. Soon followed by our daughter Anthea’s birthday and my sister-in-law, Ellen’s in early July.
I drew this painting while on a lovely vacation to Hawaii this past January. The trip was a present from my sister, who is one of my greatest supporters running neck and neck with my spouse who has always, and I mean always, encouraged me to continue making the kinds of paintings I make.
While in Hawaii, we sat on our balcony and watched rays swimming below us ( there is one on the left side of the picture) and saw whales go by as we ate our breakfast . The plant life in Hawaii was even more colorful than my paintings and I have many photos of flowers and trees so I can include them in future paintings.
And it would be great if you are able to come to the Art Stable Gallery Westport’s opening bash on June 22nd from 6:00PM to 8:30PM at 865 Main Road in Westport, MA. I have many works there with 7 other wonderful artists, Kelley MacDonald, Sara Fielding Gunn, Nancy Whittin, Kelly Milukas, Joney Swift, Kathleen Gray, and Karen Raus. The first party of the summer is always special.
So happy to post this new works. Would love to hear what you think about them.
