Bearing Strait and Gicleé give away for new blog followers.

I have been working on this painting for quite a while. There is so much going on in this painting, that I have spent a long time trying out colors and working out variations in the patterns and ways to accentuate the creatures that I want you to notice.

This is another painting on aqua board. I am finding this leopard keeps making an appearance in my paintings. I think I need to give him a name.

HERE, THERE AND EVERYWHERE

This is the latest painting I have created. Wow, this took days to do given the detail and the need to work with the brush in one direction to get an even surface. This painting will surely be going to my exhibit in Europe this summer unless it sells before then.

You might notice that the background sparkles. The patterns are done in copper so there is a lovely glow to the painting depending on how you look at it and whether there is light shining on it.

I’m adding a few close ups as the patterns are quite intricate and surprising to look at.

This is the upper right corner.

These creatures are all having a caucus.

This is a 9″ by 12 ” Ink and Watercolor on Aqua Board. The largest painting on aqua board I have done to date. It is varnished and framed in a shadow box frame. They would really love to come live in your home.

Up and Coming Cats

I am working on this larger piece that I finished inking in today. I am not sure if they are my cats or wild cats.

HANGING WITH THE COOL CATS, Day 26 of 30 paintings in 30 days.

These cats are happy to hang out in this jungle with giant mushrooms and wild flowers. There’s a cool cat leaning against the tree. Again influenced by Henri Rousseau’s jungles.

This is a 5″ by 7″ ink and watercolor on aqua board and is framed in an oak and black shadow box frame.

Sloucher, Day 23 of 30 paintings in 30 days.

Here it is low resolution.

And with sunlight reflecting the watercolor with ground mica.

And the real thing! Again inspired by my favorite artist Henri Rousseau. As we near the end of this challenge, I want to thank Leslie Saeta for encouraging us all to take on a painting a day.

This has been a great challenge and I had the opportunity to listen to Artists Helping Artists today. I am normally at work but this cold I have is a rough one. It was great to hear Leslie Saeta and Carrie Waller sharing their tips. When Carrie mentioned the golden Section I immediately thought of my husband’s work and the work of Harry Nadler from the late 1980’s.

This is an 8″ by 10″ Ink and Watercolor on aqua board framed in a maple and black shadow box frame. It is for sale for $600.

Eve’s Temptation, Day 22 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

Sometimes part of a painting makes a painting. I am working on several larger ones for a show and loved the interplay of colors here.

A Lovely Day For a Stroll

The snow has come and the air is cold but not for this elephant and giraffe. They are warm and cozy and have moved to a new home in New York City. Working on aqua board is a challenge as the surface is hard on my nibs. The color sinks into the medium and often requires more than one coat of paint, unlike how one normally paints with watercolors.

I have had a few days off and have made 4 more paintings in the style of Henri Rousseau although I have not yet painted them. My high school friend, Andie Ptak, a graphic designer, suggested I make an adult coloring book of my drawings. I am taking her advice and am scanning each of my drawings into my computer prior to painting them. I am not sure if I will follow through on this project, but I will have the scans should I ever decide to do so.
