Fire  50.00

Mixed Media 6″x6″

I have taken a slight departure with my abstracts for day 7 of Leslie Saeta’s 30 in 30 challenge. I’m getting bolder with my application of paint. Here is a dancing fire to keep everyone warm who is caught under the cold spell. When I woke this morning, I saw sea fog (advection fog) rising up along the Sakonnet River.

  1. Explosion! Festive—almost fireworks. You seem to be having a lot of fun with this new style.

  2. Oh Susan, this is so cool! I love the darks, the brights, the explosion of color! did you paint with your fingers?

It’s an upwardly mobile painting. Movement in art is important.

  4. Aptly named! I love your “boldness” and the wonderful colors.

If you’re okay with serious feedback– I like this, but I’m not sure sky blue is the right color for the “background”. It takes away from the edginess and sophistication of the total abstractions. A darker color (try some variations), or having the flames fill the entire “picture plane” (is that the right word?) would work better, in my opinion. I love the idea of being inspired by flames, but, personally, I’d rather see it carried over to abstraction.
