Soaring 6″ x 6″ Mixed Media on Aquabord

$50 plus shipping

Today is the day. I am getting my right knee replaced at Brigham an Women’s Faulkner Hospital in Boston. I am feeling positive and ready to get this done. I had a trial run last Monday but was sent home 30 minutes before surgery.  I look forward to dancing and doing so much more once I get past the hard work of recovering. If you are reading this, I hope that you will send me positive and healing energy. It always helps to have the collective energy of those around. Thank you for following my blog!

Bunny  $50

Mixed Media 6″ x 6″

I haven’t had a moment as my cat Arthur had a tangle with a wild animal and has had a fever and puncture wound. We have had 2 trips to the vet and he now has feline flu!!!!  My poor boy has not been very happy the past few days.

I am finally getting to post this funny bunny. I think he is more like the royal bunny sitting on his throne.

Gyre

Gyre

It is wonderful to see the clouds recede. One can see the sun, the sky and the reflections that occur as night begins. I wanted to make a painting that captured the beauty the setting sun.

Cyprium

Cyprium,

CYPRIUM     SOLD

MIXED MEDIA    6″ X 6″

“Cyprium aes” is the Latin root word for copper meaning Cyprus Metal. I would love to go to Cyprus and see the ancient site of Amathous which has an Apollo Temple. Amathus was founded around 1050BC. Pretty Cool.  Yes, I also want to see the Tomb of the Kings. Really, I want to see every site that is open there. On my bucket list.

I once worked with a child who was from Cyprus  at Shriners Burn Hospital in Boston, MA. The family taught me a number of recipes, one of which is for goat that we still love to make. I know, many of you will cringe at the thought of eating goat, but this is a most fabulous and easy recipe and I am going to share it.

GOAT IN A BAG

2 pounds goat cut in chunks

1 pound feta cut in 1/2 inch cubes

1/2 cup Greek olives

Place all in a heavy paper bag (no writing on it)  or parchment (preferable). Tightly close and bake at 250 degrees for 3 hours.

And as for SNOW,  it has snowed 19 out of 23 days in snowy New England. We have a snow depth of 3 feet and an accumulation of about 70 inches so far in Rhode Island. Boston, MA is just a foot away from reaching its all time record having already received 95.7 inches of snow.  I have turned to ignoring the weather. It helps me stay cheery.

The dancers are spinning around. It is a tribal ritual.

Day 28 of  Leslie Saeta’s 30 in 30. Soon my abstracts will need to take a back seat to some more complex paintings I am working on.

I would love to get your feedback on my foray into the abstract.

Maeshowe

Maes H

Maeshowe  SOLD

Mixed Media  6″ x 6″

Maeshowe is a neolithic chamber cairn on the Mainland, Orkney, Scotland. We were fortunate enough to see many neolithic chambers while touring the Orkneys but we missed visiting one of my favorite distilleries, Highland Park, while in Kirkland.

The Maeshowe type of cairn is limited to Mainland, Orkney. On mid winters day the sun shines into it and can be seen via webcam here.  You can also check out  a beautiful photo of Maeshowe winter solstice  light here.  There is so much to see in the Orkneys~Skara Brae, the Ring of Brodgar, the Tomb of the Eagles,  the Standing Stones of Stenness,  and enormous stone circles as well as bronze age houses.

If you only click on one image, click on Tomb of the Eagles and you will see where my memory has taken me with this painting.
