Cuttyhunk Union Methodist Church

cuttyhunk church use for blog

Yes, it has taken me a year to finish this painting, but I was determined to complete it before this years’ artist retreat and that I did with a little help from 2 of my muses: Kelley Carey MacDonald and of course David. Kelley and David gave me much-needed advice on how to get the values right and oh I am happy with this painting! (Click on her link and scroll down to see her work and me painting  the church on her porch last week).

I feel so blessed to have such talented, spirited and generous artists in my life.  I knew my painting did not have that kick and Kelley told me to be bold and then bolder! David kept reminding me that I needed to work right up to every edge. Well I listened, and here is this lovely simple church that sits so peacefully on the hill. This painting is a gift for a dear friend.

This is a far cry from my start last year, but I will be brave and show you how it looked.

I am happy to be spending 6 wonderful days on this peaceful island. No cars, no charge cards, no cell service (unless you climb to the lookout) and lots of time to paint, have great meals, chat, swim and meditate.
